Bonza will take off again from Avalon to the Gold Coast from Christmas Eve after the embattled airline cancelled flights earlier this month, leaving customers in the lurch.
The airline blamed the cancellations on aircraft availability, throwing the Christmas and holiday plans of 439 Avalon customers into disarray.
But chief executive Tim Jordan announced on Tuesday it had secured two additional aircraft, which would fly to and from the Gold Coast from 14 airports across Australia, including Avalon.
Flights will depart from Avalon on December 24 and 26.
From January 2, flights will depart every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Mr Jordan said it had been a challenging for time for customers who were left unable to fly with Bonza.
“To them, we say we’re really sorry and we’ll learn from this and do better to deliver for Australia,” he said.
“Now that we have approval for the two additional aircraft we’re scaling up our operations and servicing our new routes from our Gold Coast base.”
The airline will use two leased aircraft from partner airline Flair to fly routes to and from the Gold Coast.
“We’re doing everything we can to improve the current state of play of Aussie aviation by bringing equal access through lower fares to more destinations,” Mr Jordan said.
The airline launched in February this year and also operates flights between Avalon and the Sunshine Coast.
Jetstar and Bonza are the only airlines currently flying out of Avalon.
To mark the return of flights, Bonza is offering 30 per cent flights to and from the Gold Coast until January 31.
