Balcony collapses on O’Donohue Rd, Anglesea during weekend lunch
Four of the eight people hurt in the sudden collapse during a Saturday lunch were released from hospital on Sunday.

Four people remained in hospital on Sunday after the Surf Coast balcony collapse that injured eight and a pet dog who were having lunch on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the two-storey brick building on O’Donohue Rd in Anglesea shortly before 2pm.
“It’s believed the group were lunching on the balcony when it collapsed, causing all eight people to fall about 2.5m,” Victoria Police spokeswoman Katherine McLeod said.
She said three men, three women and two teenage girls were left with non-life-threatening injuries.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed eight people were transported by road ambulance to Geelong hospital.
All were in a stable condition with minor injuries.
On Sunday a Geelong hospital spokesperson said four people had been released and another four remained at the facility for treatment
The property is located near the corner of Melba Parade.
Surf Coast Shire general manager community life Damian Waight said council’s building inspector was attending the property to investigate the cause of the collapse and to ensure the site was made safe.
“Our thoughts are with those impacted, and our emergency management team is assisting to
offer support to those affected as required,” he said.
Victoria State Emergency Service, Fire Rescue Victoria and the Country Fire Authority attended the scene.
