An Armstrong Creek woman’s beloved cat, who went missing for 10 days, was miraculously found alive and well in a drain.
Goose, who is deaf and blind in one eye, snuck out of owner Carlie Burt’s home on March 28.
“I was very worried and frantically began searching for him,” she said.
“Every day, I’d walk the streets looking in bushes, door knocking, handing out flyers and desperately trying to find him.
“I cried, I hardly slept and barely ate because I was so worried about Goose and scared that he was suffering or worse, dead or stolen.”
Ms Burt said several neighbours alerted her of possible sightings of Goose around the area but none were him.
“I called Geelong council after I was told someone thought he might have been seen near a drain,” she said.
“I had neighbours try to look in the drains but they are quite deep and dangerous so we couldn’t.”
On April 6, Ms Burt said she could hear meows but was unable to locate where they were coming from.
The next day, a council worker came to her neighbourhood to check the drains in an attempt to find Goose.
Using a mirror and a torch, he miraculously spotted Goose inside a drain near Ms Burt’s home and was able to retrieve him, alive and well.
“After a trip to the vet, he’s got the all clear,” she said.
“(The vet) was surprised he’d survived on his own for 10 days.
“Goose is now home happy and safe with his family.”
Mr Burt adopted Goose two years ago after he was found on the road as a tiny kitten, weighing only 450g.
