Ari Lacroix pleads guilty to assault and posting image on revenge porn site
A man who threatened to kill his mother, also posted an intimate image of his partner online.

A young dad who held an imitation firearm to his mother’s head and threatened to shoot her, also
posted naked pictures of his ex-girlfriend on a revenge porn site.
Ari Lacroix, 29, appeared in Geelong Magistrates Court via video link on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to assault related charges and distributing an intimate image without consent.
The court heard Lacroix, who was living in Norlane before his arrest, was at his mother’s home on March 17 when he became so angry that she left the property.
The court heard Lacroix sent a number of threatening text messages to his mother, before asking her for a hug.
Lacroix’s mother came back to the house and found the walls of her home damaged.
Senior Constable David Vanderpol said while his mother was in the kitchen, Lacroix said: “You’re going to die, I’m going to die, we’re going to have a hostage situation”.
Constable Vanderpol said Lacroix grabbed an imitation firearm and held it to his mother’s head while he yelled at her.
“He grabbed the victim by the back of her head and pushed her face into the kitchen counter,” Constable Vanderpol said.
Lacroix then went to his room while the woman fled to a neighbour’s house and called police.
The critical incident team arrived at the house and negotiated with Lacroix who was arrested without incident.
In a separate incident, Lacroix posted intimate images of an ex-partner on a revenge porn website.
The court heard Lacroix posted three images between December 2021 and January 2022.
Constable Vanderpol said the victim found the images after a friend told her there were intimate photos of her online.
Lacroix’s lawyer, Damon Hunter, said his client lived in residential care from the ages of 12-17 and described his time there as “hell”.
Mr Hunter said his client had “long standing psychological issues”, but had never benefited from any substance abuse intervention or long form counselling.
Lacroix served 121 days in custody prior to pleading guilty.
Magistrate Franz Holzer described Lacroix’s case as a “difficult sentencing exercise”.
Lacroix will return to court for sentencing on January 8, 2024.
