Geelong midfielder Tanner Bruhn signs two-year contract extension until the end of 2027

A key player to Geelong’s future has given the club a big show of faith.

Emerging Geelong midfielder Tanner Bruhn has signed a two-year contract extension, tying him to the club until the end of 2027.

The Geelong Falcons export was traded from GWS to his hometown club at the end of 2022 on a three-year deal, with the Cats now securing for a further two seasons.

Bruhn has showed promising signs of development with more midfield time this season, winning 19 more clearances than any other Cat and averaging 18.4 disposals and 4.6 tackles.

The 2020 first round draftee, who played his junior football with Geelong Football Netball League club Newtown & Chillwell, has now played 60 senior games – 30 of those at the Giants.

Geelong football boss Andrew Mackie said he was excited to see the 22-year-old extent his stay at the Cats.

“We are thrilled for Tanner to extend for a further two seasons with us and have him committed to the Club until at least the end of 2027,” Mackie said.

“Tanner has a bright future and we are excited to see him grow alongside our group of emerging young players.”

Bruhn joins five-time All-Australian Tom Stewart as the only Cats locked in until the end of 2027.

Geelong has four important free agents that remained unsigned in captain Patrick Dangerfield, livewire forward Tyson Stengle, and reliable defenders Jack Henry and Jake Kolodjashnij.

Brandan Parfitt, who has found himself on the outer again after a strong pre-season, is also eligible as a free agent.
