Guests at the Gold Coast’s newest luxury hotel say it is not only the best in the city, but among the best in the world.

The Mondrian opening at Burleigh Heads in June this year marked the group’s first Australian hotel with sites around the globe including Cannes in the French Riviera and Ibiza.

It features three swimming pools, two restaurants and a wellness centre.

Damian De Giovanni from northern NSW stayed at the Mondrian during its opening weekend.

“I didn’t want to check out,” he said. “It was above and beyond what I expected.

“You get totally immersed in the experience the Mondrian brand brings to guests which is like nothing else I’ve ever experienced.”

Mr De Giovanni, who was the co-founder and director of marketing agency MAAKE, said the attention to detail was “exceptional”.

“From the moment a concierge greets you, to the receptionist to the waitstaff at the restaurants and the food, and the rooms … it was world-class,” he said.

“And where do I start with the view?

“I had an ocean view and where else can you have a hotel of this standard and then walk across the road to one of the best beaches in the world.”

Mr De Giovanni said it was the service and conversations with staff that took the experience to the next level.

“I got to know some of the staff and they would ask me how my day was going,” he said.

“Human interaction can really make an experience and make it memorable.”

Rooms start at $749 per night.

The hotel has 208 rooms including suites and studios plus a full-floor option on the 24th level, the Sky House, which has three king-sized bedrooms, a private chef’s kitchen and two bars.
