A TEENAGE service station attendant was confident enough to question a man who tried to pay for a drink with a dodgy $50 note.
CCTV footage from Zimms Corner Service Station on the Warrego Hwy showed the girl refusing to accept the cash from the man about 5.30pm on August 18.
However, police say other business transactions in the Toowoomba region have been tainted by counterfeit cash in the past three weeks.
Darling Downs district officer Detective Acting Inspector Paul Hart warned business owners that the offender could try to pass fake notes mixed in with real notes.
Some of the counterfeit currency was of reasonable quality, but had a different texture to regular currency.
Police believe some of the fakes were passed by the same man, described as being about 180cm tall, of medium build with a fair complexion and possibly in his mid to late 20s.
