A week long celebration, taking place during the 50th anniversary of a special national week, is honouring the traditional owners of Uluru – and more – in what is shaping up to be an “immersive experience” and more.

From July 6 to 13, the National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) week will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Voyages Indigenous Tourism, which oversees accommodation and more next to Uluru, has released a week-long program which company chief executive Matt Cameron-Smith has labelled “an immersive experience”.

“We’ve curated a NAIDOC Week program that platforms some of the best and brightest Indigenous talent while providing opportunities for engaging, learning and understanding – enhancing our year-round commitment to responsible and respectful cultural tourism,” he said.

The program is set to honour the Aṉangu of Pitjantjatjara-Yankunytjatjara Country, the traditional owners of Uluru and the custodians of the land which Ayers Rock Resort operates on.

The program features culinary highlights, art experiences, cultural events, and activities.

Indigenous chef Mark Olive, who runs Midden at Sydney Opera House, will be returning to the Red Centre to run a three course set menu during NAIDOC week, as well as separate bush foods masterclasses.

There will also be opportunities for afternoon tea with local artists, NAIDOC markets, and Indigenous film festival, and more.

The full program can be found online here.
