Police have charged a man after he allegedly beat his partner on multiple occasions.

MAY 26: A MAN has been charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly hit his partner with a blunt object.

It is alleged the man struck his partner and caused facial injuries in Darwin City on May 6.

On May 17 he allegedly beat the woman again, causing further head injuries.

Officers from Strike Force Lyra found the man on Monday. He has since been charged with three counts aggravated assault, threats of injury and reckless endanger serious harm.

The man was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Local Court on July 4.

“Anyone who is a victim of domestic violence should reach out for help. Call us any time on 131 444 or triple-0 in an emergency,” Commander Danny Bacon said.

MAY 25: POLICE have handed out fines for abandoning fishing equipment, noncompliance and marine safety in an active few weeks on the water.

Sergeant Troy Harris said in the weeks since Easter, police have patrolled remote waterways in the NT and in Darwin Harbour.

“During an operation over the Easter long weekend, Water Police inspected 79 vessels on Bynoe Harbour, Dundee Beach, Little Finniss River, Finniss River, Darwin Harbour, Charles Point Reef Protection Zone, Vernon Island and Cape Hotham,” he said.

“Most of the vessels passed muster and skippers were fully across the safety requirements, however we did issue eight marine infringements and 19 official cautions. We also issued a commercial fishing tour operator an Australian Marine Safety Authority (AMSA) Improvement Notice in relation to safety equipment.”

Water Police and an AMSA inspector also conducted water patrols in the Roper River and Limmen Bight regions between May 2 and 6.

“With the assistance of Limmen Sea Rangers, we seized 18 abandoned commercial mud crab pots and issued two Fisheries Infringement Notices for abandoned gear,” said Sgt Harris.

“We also issued two commercial mud crabbers with improvement notices, which were rectified within 24 hours. A further two recreational vessels in the area were non-compliant and we issued those skippers with infringement notices.”

Sgt Harris said on May 15, police responded to an EPIRB activation near the Vernon Islands, where a dinghy with five men on board had run out of fuel.

Police towed them to Wurrumiyanga.

“The boat was fitted with an EPIRB however it was not registered to the current owner of the vessel,” Sgt Harris said.

“The skipper was issued a marine safety infringement notice.

“While it’s great that the boat had an EPIRB on board, it is important when you buy a vessel you update all details. Always make sure you have plenty of fuel for your trip, and expect the unexpected.”

10AM, MON MAY 23: A POTENTIALLY disgruntled court patron has taken out their frustration on the glass windows of the NT Supreme Court.

Staff arrived on Monday morning to find the sliding glass doors and windows covered in spider web cracks.

The force of the attack on some of the panes caused the security glass to buckle.

Police suspect the damage occurred sometime between 5pm Friday and 7.30am, Monday.

Frontier bottle shop rammed by stolen car, group of youths arrested

UPDATE, MAY 16 MON 4PM: Strike Force Trident have arrested four boys, all aged 14-years-old, in relation to the “senseless” grog shop ram raid in the Darwin CBD.

The booze heist involved a white Nissan Navara ute which was stolen from a nearby home in the early hours of Monday morning and then used as a tool to bash into the roller doors of the Frontier Hotel Darwin Cellarbrations.

Leaving with a “substantial amount” of alcohol, the ute was spotted by police in the ensuing hour driving erratically along the Stuart Hwy.

“We’re talking high speeds and just crossing over on the wrong side of the roads and were far too dangerous to the public, so they terminated it in the end,” S/Sgt Bland said.

Shortly after, the abandoned stolen ute filled with booze was located by police in Gunn about 4.15am.

“It’s very expensive (damage to the roller door), it’s just mindless damage to people’s property, plus the poor gentleman’s car who was stolen and is now without a car, it’s just senseless crimes,” he said.

The stolen ute was used to bash into the roller doors of the popular bottle shop three times.

Police believe there were a total of six people involved in the incident, according to the full CCTV footage.

S/Sgt Bland encouraged Territorians to always keep their cars locked, keys out of sight and taken inside the house, to reduce the “opportunistic” thefts.

The group of youths were arrested about 2pm on Monday and are expected to face charges on Monday night.

Police are calling witnesses to come forward who may have seen the white Nissan Navara, which was used in the incident, between the hours of 2.50am and 4.15am on Monday to get in touch with police on 131 4444.

UPDATE, MAY 16 MON 8AM: A STOLEN Nissan Navara was used in a ram raid at the Frontier Hotel Darwin on Monday morning.

Police had received reports that a white Dual cab was stolen from Leanyer at about 3am with further reports of a hotel break in at 3.45am.

Large quantities of alcohol were loaded into the vehicle by the offenders.

A brief pursuit commenced when patrols located the Navara driving outbound on the Stuart Hwy near Winnellie, but was terminated due to speed and manner of driving.

The vehicle was found abandoned in Neaves Way Gunn with alcohol found in the utility space.

Police have not been able to locate the offenders involved.

When the NT News arrived on the site of the incident, repair workers had began fixing the damage.

The bottle shop roller door was severely dented from where the car allegedly crashed.

Workers onsite we’re removing each metal slat from the door frame.

The NT News reached out to hotel management for comment but didn’t get a response.

Investigations are continuing and a description of the offenders will be shared once CCTV footage has been assessed.

Police are urging anyone with information about the offence to contact crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Meanwhile, Alice Springs police are investigating unlawful entries on residential and business addresses overnight.

A trucking consultation business was targeted at Todd Mall with possessions of pens, a pair of scissors and a boomerang being stolen from the premises.

Two men were arrested by police, with one being released without charge.

A male was arrested in relation to the unlawful stealing and serious breach of bail.

Alice Springs Skate Park including the swimming pool on Beach St was unlawfully entered on Sunday evening.

The premises had damage to the point of entry with a side glass door being smashed.

Police don’t yet know what has been stolen and are investigating the incident.

Three residential break ins are also currently being investigated.
