A PRIME CBD site was originally planned to be a $45 million apartment block but has instead been approved to be a four-storey office building.

In 2010 the FKG Group was approved to build an 11-storey apartment block at 7 - 9 Kitchener St.

FKG Group had plans to change the city's skyline with Eastpointe Apartments but construction became delayed due to issues selling some of the cheaper units.

It was due to be completed in 2012 but construction never went ahead and the empty block still remains, with Toowoomba Regional Council approving it to now be the site of a massive glass-clad office building.

The council approved the application by developer Janflow Pty Ltd earlier this year and now the site is available for lease, with price upon application.

Developers had to overcome concerns by council about the car parking layout, particularly regarding disability parking and the space provided for vehicles in the basement car park.

The site will now have 70 onsite carparks and two lifts on the 1599 sq m block of land looking over Queens Park and Mothers Memorial Garden.
