Franchisee unveils state-of-the-art Snap Fitness North Shore after $1.3m investment
A $1.3m state-of-the-art fitness facility has opened north of Townsville, featuring a ‘rare’ 24/7 pilates studio among its premium offering. See where it is.
Fitness fans are working up a sweat in a new state-of-the-art fitness facility packed with the latest in gym equipment and a rare 24/7 pilates studio, after it opened north of Townsville earlier this month.
It was a case of one door closing and another one opening when Snap Fitness Aitkenvale closed suddenly due to personal reasons on November 5 – the same day that Snap Fitness North Shore celebrated its grand opening at 30-38 North Shore Boulevard, Burdell.
The “new home for health on the shore”, the Burdell facility boasts plenty of features including 24hr access, modern equipment, infra-red sauna, pilates studio, group classes, personal training, private showers and bathrooms, and on-site child minding.
Strategically positioned to capitalise on the growth to Townsville’s north, the new facility represents a significant $1.3m investment in its modern fit-out and equipment by Sunshine Coast-based franchisee Lason Lorenz, who also operates Snap Fitnesses in Kingaroy and Maroochydore.
He highlighted the 480 sqm gym floor loaded up with Matrix equipment, eight Olympic lifting platforms, and “some unique pieces” including high row, pendulum squats, and a 12-way cable system.
“Everyone is very keen, they love the space. The initial take up within our pre-sales has been fantastic, and it continues to grow daily,” Mr Lorenz said.
“There’s a group fitness zone where all of our high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and fit classes are taking place.
“There’s a dedicated reformer (pilates) studio in there which comprises 12 beds and each bed has its own kiosk station … with access to the virtual training classes … and 24hr access – which is unusual.”
He said membership included access to the infra-red sauna, group classes, and reciprocal access to other Snap Fitness facilities throughout Australia.
“I might be biased, but I feel it’s the best facility that we can build at the moment, with more additional equipment coming to that centre as well … in the next two weeks.
The business is currently recruiting personal trainers and reformer instructors, with locals encouraged to submit their resumes.
“The demand on reformer pilates classes has been incredible from people wanting to do that and to that form of fitness.
“With reformer pilates use essentially you’re on a bed as opposed to a mat … but also with reformer pilates you have resistance at all times.
“We are currently putting reformer instructors through a couple of courses so that we can cater for demand.”
