Built 62 years ago in 1956, the hotel officially re-opens its doors on Sunday, May 13.

The family owned Hakfoort Group has enhanced the hotel's timeless elegance using contemporary themes and an old-world charm design, with the addition of state of the art modern facilities.

The luxury hotel entrance's gold revolving doors open up to a five metre high grand lobby with two new large reception desks which are open 24 hours a day.

Reception features a custom-designed chandelier and a four metre long fish tank where both Nemo and Dory will make an appearance.

The fluid and mostly white space is punctuated with colourful art and design elements which add a sense of glamour.

The classic theme continues marble panelling and various gold detailing, all adding a sense of grandeur to the lobby.

Food is plentiful at Burke and Wills with a buffet breakfast being served in the Conservatory and Glasshouse daily.
