First buildings go up on new Wagners housing estate

THE first 25 properties have already been built on Wagners' new 140-lot housing estate in western Toowoomba.

THE first 25 properties have already been built on Wagners' new 140-lot housing estate in western Toowoomba.

Professionals Toowoomba West real estate agent Bob Loiterton said Sovereign Hill, split into two stages, also has 8000sq m zoned for a shopping precinct and childcare centre.

Based on 56 acres off Hursley Rd in Torrington, the massive development is just 15 minutes from the Wagners' Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport.

Mr Loiterton said the housing estate had resisted the push towards smaller blocks, with the minimum size of lots starting from 550sq m.

"They start off at 550sq m and they go up to 3000sq m. Really, the people buying these blocks are buying for the view," he said.

"All up, there will be 140 blocks once they've finished.

"All the top local builders are being used - they're building some lovely homes. The biggest winners will be the first home-buyers."

A park and playground has also been built.

At least two new streets have already been created, according to Professionals Toowoomba West, with more to be named in the second stage once it is approved by the council.

Half of the first stage has already been sold.
