Fire-ravaged Toowoomba business to finally rebuild

AFTER a devastating fire destroyed part of a Toowoomba furniture store, leaving its owner with second-degree burns, the business has revealed it's finally being rebuilt.

A shed which served Sun Pine Furniture's showroom and office was destroyed by a fire in 2014.

Almost three years later, a new shed is being constructed on the Anzac Ave site and will be operating around June.

One the day of the fire, owner John Gietzel had been in contact with Ergon Energy about a power "brown out".

Suddenly, the shed, packed with timber furniture, was engulfed in flames before Queensland Fire and Emergency Services had arrived.

Mr Gietzel told The Chronicle while a prominent part of the furniture business was missing, they continued trading over the years.

Now they're finally happy to replace the shed and will reveal more as it's constructed.
