There remains significant confusion around the files pertaining to murder accused Phillip Randel Maurice Parry, who is facing concurrent legal matters.

Mr Parry, 18, is accused of murdering Nightcliff store owner Lindford Feick on April 23 after the 71-year-old asked him to return items he was allegedly attempting to steal.

Police allege Mr Parry fled the crime scene on a pushbike as distressed customers went to Mr Feick’s aid.

Despite bystanders applying desperate first aid, Mr Feick died at the scene.

Mr Parry would hand himself in to Palmerston Police Station seven hours after the incident and has since remained in custody.

In Mr Parry’s first appearance on the murder charge, the court heard he had been on bail when the alleged offence occurred.

At the time, Judge Steve Ledek said there was significant confusion over the man’s files, with police initially recording the wrong date of birth and his incorrect first name.

The same confusion swept through the courtroom when Mr Parry re-appeared in Darwin Local Court on Wednesday, June 25.

Appearing via video link, Mr Parry watched on as Judge Tanya Fong Lim queried what files of Mr Parry’s were before her.

As well as his murder charge, Mr Parry had two other files to his name before the court.

On one file was for trespassing and theft offences, while another file showed he had been charged with aggravated robbery.

Adding to the confusion, the latter file needed to be verified as it was presented under a different name.

After 10 minutes of navigating the uncertainty, each of Mr Parry’s matters were ultimately adjourned to a later date.

“Your lawyer will let you know what is going on in relation to those (matters) but you are excused from attending on the next occasion,” Judge Fong Lim told Mr Parry.

Mr Parry will return to court on August 12.
