RETURN To The Wild Inc wildlife carer Clare Glover became the carer of a koala joey named Oliver when his mother was killed by a vehicle at Cabarlah.

Ms Glover urges motorists using the New England Highway to be cautious of koalas crossing the road as the marsupials become more active in the warmer seasons.

She said another healthy female koala was killed a few metres from where Oliver's mother was a week before.

"There have been two koalas killed in Carbarlah and another two killed near the Cronin Rd development in Highfields," Ms Glover said.

Save the Koala month

"The New England Highway from Toowoomba to Crows Nest has a very high rate of koalas killed by vehicles.

"People are not aware of koalas until they find one in trouble."

Return To The Wild Inc is a non-profit organisation that provides critical care and rehabilitation to koalas to release them back into the wild.

"It is vitally important that any injured or dead koalas are reported immediately," Ms Glover said.

Anyone who comes across any injured or dead koalas can phone Ms Glover on 0427 969 860.
