AFTER overcoming the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the pioneering Pulse Data Centre west of Toowoomba is eyeing a potential expansion to meet future demand.

The $30 million centre, built by FKG Group in 2018, now hosts data from companies across the country and has won awards for its design and service.

While he couldn’t go into specifics about data capacity, PDC general manager John Henderson said the pandemic had presented both challenges and opportunities for the superstructure.

“We’re obviously continuing to see opportunities and win business from the wider Queensland and national presence,” he said.

“2020 has brought some challenges as you can appreciate, just with the limits to staff movements of potential clients across state lines, but we’ve also had some things happen that we didn’t anticipate.

“Current clients had to react very quickly to increase data capacity to be able to cope with a workforce that is now working from home.

“We’re doing some planning based on some future expansions of the site, like the fit-outs of additional halls.”

Mr Henderson said the facility had also kept its commercial promise of zero down time.

“We can hold our heads high – two and half years in, the system hasn’t had a second or a millisecond of downtime,” he said.

“I’ll be proud to make a big fuss when we hit 10 years.”
