A major Toowoomba car dealership has put forward changes to existing showroom plans on the fringe of the CBD.
Armstrong Auto Group submitted a new application to the council earlier this month to amend its existing approval for a two-stage showroom development on Neil Street in Toowoomba City.
According to the planning report by Property Projects Australia’s James Juhasz, the applicant would like to spread the development out over three stages.
“In short, the change involves introducing two new development stages, for a total of three development stages,” he wrote.
“Proposed stage three reflects the development approval that was granted on February 14, 2020.
“Proposed stages one and two are new, transitional stages, which will allow a smaller dealership to be established initially, with the ultimate development being provided at a later point.”
Mr Juhasz said the development approval related to two sites, both of which would be affected by the proposed change.
“Site one is the existing Armstrong Automotive Group business, located to the north of Gore Street, which currently accommodates a car showroom and associated workshop,” he wrote.
“Here, limited changes to layout are proposed and these works will now be completed as part of stages two and three.
“Site two, located directly south of site one and to the opposite side of Gore Street, is currently vacant.
“Here, this change request seeks to introduce proposed stages one and two, prior to the ultimate development layout being established as part of stage three.”
