The Toowoomba Regional Council approved a minor change in the plans to the ground floor of Barry Bernoth’s South Central at the Bernoth Centre development.
According to the planning report, the new commercial space would be used for a pharmacy.
“The proposed change is intended to provide additional flexibility for land uses within the approved building, so that the applicable tenancy can be used interchangeably for a ‘retail showroom’ or ‘shop’ over time, depending on the relevant market demands,” the report said.
“The proposed use will be complementary to the existing approved/operating uses on site.
“The nature of the use is also considered to be a suitable use within the low-medium density residential zone, given the nature of the other non-residential uses within the now-constructed mixed use development.”
South Central features 25 apartments for sale or lease, a Snap Fitness gym, cafe, office space and other showroom space.
