A set of eight units could be introduced to a busy Toowoomba St, after plans were submitted to the council this week.
Applicant Cavanagh Holdings Pty Ltd put forward the proposal for eight two-bedroom units along Mort Street in North Toowoomba.
According to the planning report by Alpha Planning Applications, six of the units would be single-storey, while the final two at the rear of the property would be based over two storeys.
“The proposed detached units will reach a maximum height of approximately 8.35 metres (units 7 and 8 only),” the report said.
“The proposed built form, and its bulk, scale and height, are all generally consistent with and/or lesser than that of surrounding residential uses; with a design that is intended to, and achieves consistency with the neighbourhood character of surrounding uses and the streetscape.
“The front of the site at Mort Street, as well as vehicular entrance is to be well landscaped, with the existing street tree remaining in place and unaffected; and further landscaping surrounding the buildings to enhance the character of the development.”
APA argued the units were consistent with the low-medium density zoning of the land under the Toowoomba Regional Council’s latest planning scheme.
The application included an extra report into stormwater management.
Because the application is code-assessable, public notification is not required.
The council has yet to respond with an information request.
