Nine spaces left in new Toowoomba subdivision at Cranley despite developer applying to seal 53 lots with council

A Brisbane consortium is preparing to launch more than 50 city lots onto the market – the only problem is there are less than 10 left for sale. Find out why here.

Cash rate decision appears to give buyers in housing market 'confidence boost'

A new subdivision only 10 minutes from the Toowoomba CBD has just nine lots remaining in it, despite the developer applying to release more than 50 to the market.

A consortium of Brisbane developers has lodged an application with the Toowoomba Regional Council to seal the remaining 53 lots in its Cranley subdivision.

Sealing lots allows them to be sold and registered with a new owner.

The housing estate is less than five minutes from the new Toowoomba Hospital and just 10 minutes from the centre of town.

But Colliers Toowoomba’s Brad Lipp, who handles the sale of the lots, said most had already been snapped up off the plan.

It’s a sign of the extraordinary demand for new housing in Toowoomba, which has led to skyrocketing house prices and a vacancy rate

“There are nine lots left and we started selling them in September last year,” Mr Lipp said.

“They start at $207,500, ranging from 576 sqm to 675 sqm.

“51 per cent of (all buyers) have been people who are looking to live there and 66 per cent are first homebuyers.”

Mr Lipp said the housing estate’s proximity to the CBD and key shopping precincts had made it desirable for potential homebuyers.

You’re 10 mins from the CBD, you’re five minutes from the new hospital (and) you’re five minutes from Wilsonton Shopping Centre,” he said.

“It’s just beautiful, really nice views up there (in Cranley).”

The Lipp said he expected the estate to be sold out by the end of the year.
