A massive retail, lifestyle and entertainment precinct has been given the green light for one of southern Queensland’s fast-growing communities.
Plainland Crossing has been approved by the Lockyer Valley Regional Council to build a bulk retail, entertainment and medical centre in its fast-growing township east of Toowoomba.
The precinct, which will be called Plainland Home and Life, will be built over 13,000 sqm and include spaces for five uses and 160 car parks.
It will feature a bulk retail area, indoor entertainment space, medical centre, shop and food outlet.
Plans attached to the development application submitted in February suggested Pet Stock would be one of the tenants.
The development is next door to the new Bunnings Warehouse and Aldi supermarket and forms part of a major cog in the commercial precinct of Plainland as it expands rapidly.
Council officers sent an information request in March outlining issues with the application, covering matters relating to hours of operation, carparking, visual amenity, pedestrian connectivity and advertising.
The applicant provided responses, with the council approving the project on July 5.
