Applicant D and B Desai Super Property Pty Ltd can now move ahead with the proposal to turn the house on Herries St in East Toowoomba into a specialist medical centre for up to three practitioners.

According to the plans submitted with the report by Precinct Urban Planning, the site would operate 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

“The residential building will be modified internally to make provision for three main consultation rooms with each practitioner provided with a second consultation room (total of six rooms) to assist with managing patient lists,” the report said.

“The medical centre will also include a reception and waiting area, procedure room, staffroom and file room/storage area.

“The external appearance of this circa inter-war dwelling will largely remain intact other than modifications at the front entry to make provision for new set of stairs and a disabled access ramp to comply with person with disability (PWD) requirements.”

Engineering drawings and a stormwater management plan were attached to the application.

Council officer Tamara Katai approved the development proposal.

It is not known how many conditions were imposed.
