A plastics recycling and manufacturing plant that will employ up to 36 workers has been approved by Toowoomba Regional Council.
Wagners Properties submitted a development application for the project to TRC in September this year, on behalf of Envorinex, an Australian-owned and operated industrial and commercial waste plastic processing business.
The council approved the development application this week, which will permit the proposed facility to reprocess and re-manufacture plastics.
According to a council assessment report, operating at a typical production level will see 8000 tonnes of HDPE and polypropylene recycled and processed per year.
“The proposed use will have 36 employees with a maximum 12 employees per shift (two x 12 hours shifts),” the council report said.
“The applicant has indicated the use will operate 24 hours per day for 300 days per year (equivalent to 6 days per week), however approval is sought for unlimited hours of operation.”
The facility will include two building comprising 4171 sq m of gross floor area and 4000 sq m of sealed hardstand area for outdoor storage at the rear.
“The reprocessing building will be used for the cleaning, shredding and bagging of plastics, with outputs including granulated plastic resin and plastic resin pellets.
“The Re-manufacturing building will involve the use of plastic for the production of extruded and injection moulded plastic products.
“The office component (298.7m2 GFA) of the development is equivalent to 7.1% of the total GFA, and is positioned at the front of the re-manufacturing building. Both buildings will be approximately 8.5m in height.”
