The final stages in the transformation of a historic Toowoomba CBD venue The Spotted Cow are almost complete, with the new owner approved for special signage by the council.
The Toowoomba Regional Council’s planning department this week gave the green light for Hallmark Group to attach six new signs to both the outside and inside.
Most prominently of the signs will be an LED-lit logo at the top corner of the building on Ruthven St, along with a massive steel cow near the entrance to the gaming lounge.
TRC senior planner Sophie Spencer said the signage was considered acceptable.
“All signs will advertise the Spotted Cow, and do not include third party advertising,” she wrote.
“The submitted plans also show the removal of some existing signage, including pokies signage from awnings, and the above roof sign.”
It is the latest step in a $1.5 million renovation of the longstanding pub, which was mostly completed by the end of last year.
Hallmark Group bought the property and business in 2020 from the Coorey family, who had owned it since the early 1990s.
The changes include a complete facelift for the both the inside and outside of the building, a revamped restaurant with a dry-ageing cabinet, and an expanded gaming section.
