Van Diemen's most popular ice-cream flavours explained

A scoop of velvety lemon curd ice-cream and an irresistible fusion of Port Arthur lavender and white chocolate are among Hobart’s favourite ice-cream flavours on offer at a popular Constitution Dock punt.

Van Diemens Land Creamery is home to some of the most unique gelato and ice-cream flavours and the one of a kind pepperberry and leatherwood honey ice-cream is just one of the flavours that leaves customers wanting more.

36 different options line the floating stores cabinets and a selection of milkshake and thickshake flavours draw in customers from all over Tasmania.

The premium ice-creamery was voted among Tasmania’s favourite destinations to grab a first-class scoop in the delicious. 100 Best of the Best and is in the running to be crowned the tastiest ice-cream in Tasmania.

Van Diemen’s Constitution Dock store manager Ernesto Rico said it is a huge complement to be named one of Tasmania’s finest ice-cream destinations and said it is a “beautiful responsibility”.

“It only takes you one visit and to taste one flavour to see how creamy it is, how the ingredients are very special,” Mr Rico said.

“It’s very high quality, you can taste it.”

“The product is premium and we’re not thinking about changing that, we’re going to keep it at that level because that’s what has made all the people from Hobart, Tasmania and tourists to prefer us.”

This year’s new look competition is on a mission to find the very best foods that everyone can enjoy without hefty price tags, including sandwiches, tacos, ramen and vanilla slices.

Voters can see the top five nominations in each category and vote for their favourite eats and treats.

Cast your vote before November 3.
