The much-anticipated annual battle between the best rugby teenagers from NSW and Queensland on Saturday in Sydney has been called off due to Cyclone Alfred which is predicted to make landfall on Friday or Saturday.
NSW Waratahs boss Andrew Cleverley said concerns for Queensland players in regard to transport cancellations and potentially having to drive through dangerous conditions from across the state were behind the decision to postpone the event to later in March.
The first match of the annual battle will now take place, weather permitting, next weekend at Ballymore with the Sydney leg moved to March 22.
“It’s the Reds, their kids could be coming from everywhere in Queensland,” Cleverley said.
