THE owner of Zimms Corner has applied to Toowoomba Regional Council to redevelop the service station site.

Town planners acting for Olga Marr have lodged a development application for the use of a service station, food and drink outlet, warehouse, car wash and caretakers accommodation.

Stage one of the plans propose relocating the service station to within the existing warehouse building, with a car and truck wash to be built along a to-be-constructed southern access point on Gowrie Mountain School Rd.

Under the second stage of the plans, the existing service station building that fronts the Warrego Hwy will be converted into one or two food and drink outlet tenancies.

The home that burned down in late 2018 at 9 Gowrie Mountain School Rd is to be replaced with self storage units, under the plans.

The first stage of plans will include 11 carparking spaces, with the second to include a further 27 carparking spaces.

Documents lodged with the council show the service station is proposed to operate 24/7, as is the food and drink outlet(s).

The car wash and self storage units have proposed hours of operation between 7am and 6pm.

Plans state there is a proposed six foot high Colorbond fencing which will separate the storage unit area from the food outlet and service station areas, with additional landscaping provided to the west, north, east and south.

Zimms Corner was the target of a break and enter and arson attack in June 2019 where the donga the business was operating out of was destroyed by fire.

Mrs Marr has owned the shop since 1991.
