The Toowoomba Regional Council’s waste and water committee portfolio lead Cr Nancy Sommerfield is encouraging residents to get involved with the event, which runs over November 21-22.

“We’re always interested in finding ways of how we can reduce the amount of items going to landfill and by signing up for the Garage Sale Trail you’re able to do this,” Cr Sommerfield said.

“As a society we’re often quick to throw away unwanted items which ultimately end up at one of our landfill sites but something that might no longer be of use to one person might actually be quite useful to another.

“By buying or selling second-hand items we can help divert valuable resources from landfill and as an added bonus, you’re able to make some money from the items you sell.

“The Garage Sale Trail is open to everyone with a variety of items available from rare teapot sets through to furniture, clothing and musical items.”

To join in the fun of hosting your own sale or to check out the treasure map of second-hand items, visit the website.

For more information contact the council on 131 872.
