Residents in Toowoomba’s southern suburbs could be getting a new dog off-leash area, with the council considering a new proposal in Kearneys Spring.

The council is currently seeking feedback from the community on the plan, which would create a fenced area at Carly Hibberd Park.

“Council currently provides 26 dog off-leash areas in parks across our Region where dogs can exercise and socialise leash-free with other dogs and dog park visitors,” environment and community portfolio leader Councillor Tim McMahon said.

“Council aims to strike a balance between dog owners who love to walk their dogs off-leash at our parks and other members of our community, particularly families, who also use the parks.

“If the proposed area is approved, dogs visiting Carly Hibberd Park will be required to be under effective control at all times and will not be allowed off-leash until they enter the off-leash areas.”

Submissions close on December 31 and can be made either at yoursay.tr.qld.gov.au or by sending an email to yoursay@tr.qld.gov.au.
