The council will begin a controlled burn program from tomorrow across the Crows Nest district.
TRC environment and community services portfolio leader Cr Tim McMahon said the program was a joint training burn exercise with the Queensland Rural Fire Service.
“We have now entered bushfire season, so it’s important we are well prepared for whatever conditions may come our way,” he said.
“To help us prepare for this, we’ll be conducting a cool, controlled burn at Aphrah St in Crows Nest, for the reduction of fuel loads and feral animal harbourage and invasive weeds.
“Council will conduct the burn on Tuesday, November 10 with the assistance of both Queensland Fire and Emergency Service and the Queensland Rural Fires Service.
“Adjoining landholders will be notified of the proposed burn that will take place.”
