The Toowoomba Regional Council has revealed it will open Carnival Lane on Margaret St before the end of the year.
The laneway, which will connect the main section of the city centre to Annand St carparking and the Walton Stores precinct, was created from the space made by the demolition of an old building.
TRC environment and community chair Cr James O’Shea said there had been some delays to construction.
“The project is nearing completion with final services being connected and public art being installed,” he said.
“During the life of the project, the council engaged Toowoomba-based construction company Taddio Building Group to complete the design and construction.
“In addition to this, a number of local subcontractors have been engaged to help deliver this exciting project.
“Although the welcome wet weather has slightly delayed the opening date, we are still expecting to have Carnival Lane open to the public this year.”
The laneway was named in honour of the annual Carnival of Flowers.
