Toowoomba Regional Council called after three dogs were killed

A vicious dog has been destroyed hours after it mauled a pup and a second adult dog to death.

Three dogs are dead after a vicious mauling in Clifton.

A Queensland Police spokesman said a neighbour alerted police to a dog attack in George Street at 12.30pm on Tuesday.

Police arrived to find a pup and a female dog mauled to death.

Two adult male dogs were fighting and had sustained significant injuries, prompting an officer to use pepper spray to break them up.

Paramedics were called to the incident to treat a woman for shock.

No formal complaint was made as the dogs were owned by the same person, so the matter was referred to Toowoomba Regional Council.

The Chronicle understands the owner used a licensed firearm to euthanise the aggressive dog.

A council spokesman said the matter would be investigated in line with the state Animal Management Act.

Council encourages and promotes a range of responsible pet ownership measures,” he said.

“All dog owners have a responsibility to maintain control of their dogs in public at all times.

“They also have a duty to ensure dogs are properly enclosed in private yards.”

Phone 131 872 to report dog attacks, 24 hours a day.
