Toowoomba Regional Council’s mowing crews have been working around the clock after a period of “exceptional grass growth” following recent rain.
TRC Parks and Recreation Services portfolio leader Cr Tim McMahon said the council’s mowing crews had worked extended hours and at weekends across January to cope with the “prolific grass growth which resulted from recent rain”.
“All parklands and sporting fields have been mown in accordance with routine mowing cycles, and council is pleased to report nearly all grassed areas are now presenting to a high standard,” he said.
“Path edging will be followed up when the sheer volume of general mowing is under control.
“Council thanks residents for their patience and understanding while mowing crews have caught up with the most recent exceptional grass growth.”
Across the region, the council maintains about 1000 hectares of grass.
“We appreciate how highly residents value our parks and gardens and will be working hard to ensure we have them in tip-top shape for everyone to enjoy across summer,” Cr McMahon said.
