Event organisers in the Southern Downs impacted by closures and cancellations will have the chance to learn from industry professionals at an “events bootcamp”, which will help revamp events and give organisers some certainty moving forward past the pandemic.

Representatives from the region’s five major events will also have a chance to have a say on a range of topics, including maximising social media in the lead up to an event, and proper marketing techniques.

Coming to Warwick to appear are Kate Scott from Carnival of Flowers, Scott McDuff from Scenic Rim Eat Local Week, David Contarini from RACQ, Southern Queensland Country Tourism CEO Peter Homan as well as delegates from Tourism and Events Queensland.

Councillor Marco Gliori said the bootcamp was a great and timely opportunity for local event organisers to learn from some of the best in the business as COVID-19 social restrictions ease.

“This event promises to have a great line-up of experts who will offer tangible and helpful information,” Mr Gliori said.

“Our event organisers should make the most of this bootcamp to garner really useful knowledge that will help local events moving forward.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to hear from some of the great minds in the field and renew enthusiasm for events in the region.”

The bootcamp will run from 9am to 4pm on November 17, at the Kings Theatre, Warwick RSL.
