A homeowner has put a proposal to Toowoomba Regional Council to convert an existing residence at 2 Alice St, East Toowoomba, into short-term accommodation.
The development application, which was lodged this week, involves the reuse of the existing home as a self-contained, short term accommodation facility to be tenanted to one household/booking at one time, with a maximum of eight occupants.
“The dwelling will be retained in its current form, and the streetscape character will remain unchanged,” the application said.
“The premises is intended to be rented on a short-term basis for periods of limited duration via internet short stay accommodation providers such as Airbnb or similar.”
The development application was accompanied by an acoustic complaints management procedure, “which will be implemented to ensure that guests staying on-site will not have an adverse impact on neighbouring properties”.
The council is assessing the application.
