The Toowoomba region will have a new council from March 16, with two mayoral candidates and 27 council contenders vying for just 11 spots at next month’s local government elections.
The decision comes at a difficult moment for voters, who are dealing with the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, rising house prices and more localised issues like potential rate hikes, concerns about council services and staff shortages.
The Chronicle has compiled a free survey for potential voters to fill out to help understand the key issues and problems that are front of mind for residents.
These answers will be compiled and put to the 29 candidates at upcoming forums and one-on-one interviews over the coming weeks.
