THE Toowoomba Regional Council is seeking feedback on its waste management strategy, with the submission period now open.
The community will be able to provide feedback through the Your Say website until 5pm, Friday November 6.
TRC water and waste portfolio leader Cr Nancy Sommerfield said residents were both consumers and generators of waste.
"Our region's management of waste continues on a journey from a disposal mindset to a resource recovery mindset," Cr Sommerfield said.
"As a community, we want to make sure that our waste becomes a resource rather than something that goes into landfill.
"The online survey allows the community to have their say on the direction of waste management in the Toowoomba region.
Cr Sommerfield said the council was committed to redirecting waste away from landfill, into recycling or other beneficial uses.
"The council is planning to build on recent improvements to waste disposal and recycling opportunities being offered to residents through new facilities," she said.
"The removal and management of waste is an essential service provided to the community, and we are always willing to consider innovations that help us to reduce, reuse and recycle."
Water and waste chair Cr Rebecca Vonhoff said the council had a statutory obligation to review the strategy every three years.
"The survey provides an opportunity to touch base with the community and ensure that our waste management strategy and recycling plan is heading in the right direction," Cr Vonhoff said.
"The feedback received from the survey will guide the updated strategy.
Cr Sommerfield said, "Don't waste the opportunity to have your say."
