A longstanding Toowoomba business has applied for a development application for a medium impact industry use in an industrial precinct of Wilsonton.
According to documents lodged with Toowoomba Regional Council, Busby’s Recycling through its town planners Property Projects Australia lodged the development application this week.
The documents said 1 Barrabool Ct had operated as a resource recovery business for about 30 years, and the proposal sought approval to provide for the ongoing use of the site for a medium impact industry use – specifically the use of the site as a scrap metal recycling yard.
“From a review of aerial imagery, council records and information provided by the land owner, a scrap metal and resource recovery business was established at 1 Barrabool Ct, between 1989-90,” the documents said.
“Around this time, a building works approval associated with a workshop was granted. The current operation has since expanded to include the land at 3 Barrabool Ct.
“As such, this development application seeks approval, over the combined subject site, for a medium impact industry use, being for a resource recovery and recycling yard operated by Busby’s Recycling.”
The application is code assessable and remains under assessment by the council.
