The brothers might be NZ-born and Perth raised, but their music boasts tropical sounds that match North Queensland – and they’re excited to join a massive line up of Aussie music royalty right here in Townsville.

Lead guitarist of the band Coterie, Conrad Fisher, said the brothers who make up the band love the North.

“We love Townsville,” he said.

“It’s kind of a West Coast vibe with the whole palm tree tropical scene but hotter.”

The Fisher brothers Conrad, Tyler, Joshua and Brandford will be on the stage at One Street One Day music festival on July 26, which also features Hilltop Hoods, DMA’s, Meg Mac and a bunch more local talent.

“Hilltop Hoods? you can’t say no, they’re legendary, ” Conrad said.

“I remember being in high school hanging out at my mates and Cosby Sweater just got released and I remember sitting there like ‘what is this?’, they sounded American but Aussie it was crazy. So, meeting guys like that, obviously everyone else on the bill – it’s cool, it’s a vibe.”

The band’s self-titled debut album went platinum on its release and they’ve been busy ever since playing alongside Six60 on a stadium tour, and most recently getting in the studio to write new music.

“We went from playing the corner pub with literally 20 people, 10 of them our cousins – from there to like these crazy shows… it’s still pretty bizarre, we love it.”

“We’re pretty fresh still, we always at the start of our show are like ‘who’s seen us before’ and sometimes like a couple thousand, sometimes seven people put their hands up. its interesting to see the crowd’s reaction.

When asked how to perfectly describe the band’s music – Conrad shared that a young kid who listened to their music hit the nail on the head.

“This little kid was like ‘mum they sound like surf but gangster as well’ so we’ve been holding on to that. It’s just big vibes, good times, summer, sunset. The world’s going through a lot and we just want to be those guys that bring a bit of summer into this world.”

Tickets for the festival are available here.
