Nightcliff’s Jordan Roads makes statement 168 runs in Round 5 of the One-Day competition

The past two weekends of first grade DDCC action produced mammoth tons, big victories with a sprinkling of impressive bowlers. See who stood tall from your club in our top performers.

We’ve run the rule over the DDCC premier men’s competition, and have chosen our top performers from the round that was.

One-Day (Round 5)

PALMERSTON POWER (38.1) 5/168 def. 165 (46.5) WARATAH WARRIORS

Angus Campbell (Waratah): The first drop scored a neat 54 runs off 82 deliveries, with four fours and a six.

Prasanna Ketheeshwaran (Palmerston): Power’s first drop was also the pick of the run scorers with 56 runs off 100 deliveries. He scored three fours.

TRACY VILLAGE 3/207 (27.4) def. 206 (48.2) SOUTHERN DISTRICTS CROCS

Daniel Mylius (Districts): Myluis’ knock at nine ended up as the Croc’s biggest contribution. He scored 50 runs from 41 deliveries, hitting three fours and as many sixes along the way.

Connor Carroll (Tracy): Carroll was seeing them like beachballs yet again, thumping Crocs’ attack. He scored an unbeaten 100 runs before retiring not out, making seven boundaries and smacking six sixes.

Scott Palombo (Tracy): The number three scored another half-century at the weekend, making 54 runs from 32 balls. He whacked seven sixes for a s/r of 168.75.

NIGHTCLIFF TIGERS 6/346 def. 132 (31) PINT

Jordan Roads (Nightcliff): With the performance of the round, and the season to date, the left-handed opener scored an exceptional 168 runs off 117 balls. Roads smacked 18 fours and three sixes.

Niven Dovey (Nightcliff): The Tiger had the Kookaburra on a string, taking figures of 4/13 off just four overs.

One-Day (Round 4)

WARATAH WARRIORS 6/184 (40.4) def. 183 (42.1) SOUTHERN DISTRICTS CROCS

Jaga Koduru (Waratah): Back in the fold, the Victorian run machine whacked 80* runs off 117 deliveries. Koduru saved the day, in at number three following two golden ducks for both the Warriors’ openers.

Archie McCormick (Waratah): The other major runs contributor, McCormick scored 60 runs from 67 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes. He also took two catches.

Junaid Mansoor (Waratah): The Warrior was on fire, taking figures of 4/39 from nine overs.

Udara Weerasinghe (Waratah): The captain was also on fire. He finished with 4/24 from his 8.1 overs.

PALMERSTON POWER 9/243 (49.5) def. 9/239 PINT

Mitch Doolan (PINT): Continuing his great early season form, Doolan hit 66 runs off a laboursome 112 deliveries, making just the three boundaries.

Harry Lickiss (PINT): At number seven, Lickiss scored an unbeaten 58* runs from 44 balls, smashing eight boundaries and two sixes.

Amogh Paranjpe (Palmerston): The best with the ball for Power, Paranjpe took figures of 4/41 from his 10 over spell, going at 4.10.

Prasanna Ketheeshwaran (Palmerston): Digging in at the crease, the number three made 55 runs off 99 deliveries hitting a lone boundary for a 5.55 s/r.

Amogh Paranjpe (Palmerston): The other Power player to make above the half-ton mark, Paranjpe scored 64* off 49 balls, hitting six fours and one six.

Mitchell Leach (PINT): Leading the pack but costly, Leach took 4/61 from his 10 overs.

TRACY VILLAGE 8/317 def. 266 (46) DARWIN EAGLES

Connor Carroll (Tracy): The former Tiger was on song again at the top, hitting 52 runs off 48 deliveries, with five fours and three sixes.

Jake Gerrans (Tracy): Batting in tandem with Carroll, Gerrans made 67 runs from 87 deliveries, hitting seven boundaries.

Scott Palombo (Tracy): The number three followed the trend of half centuries with a contribution of 62 runs from 56 deliveries, hitting three fours and five sixes.

Sam Elder (Tracy): The number four also made the 50 mark, scoring 51 runs from 45 deliveries, with two boundaries and three sixes.

Ryan Walker: (Tracy): The fifth Villager in the inning who made 50 plus, Walker scored 63 runs from 53 balls, smashing seven fours and the lone six.

Lenny Wilton (Darwin): The only Eagle to shine in a battered bowling attack, Wilton recorded figures of 4/51 off just six overs.

Jacob Dickman (Darwin): Dickman got the Eagles inning off to a flyer with a tough 82 runs off 63 balls, smacking the nine boundaries and five sixes.

Justin Galeotti (Darwin): In to bat early after Rossi’s golden duck, the Victorian slogged his way to 105 runs from 133 balls. He hit 10 fours and two maximums.

T-20 (Round 3)

NIGHTCLIFF TIGERS 8/143 def. 6/137 TRACY VILLAGE

Tye Beer (Tracy): Really the only standout from the low-scoring affair, Beer, going at five an over, took figures of 4/20 off his four overs.

SOUTHERN DISTRICTS CROCS 5/170 def. 6/161 WARATAH WARRIORS

Zac Curtain (Districts): The opener whacked a steady 67 runs from 52 deliveries, scoring five fours and two sixes.

Zeph Netherway (Districts): Batting in tandem with Curtain atop the order, Netherway scored 49 runs off 30 deliveries, hitting seven fours and one maximum.

DARWIN EAGLES 7/167 def. 9/126 PINT

Jacob Dickman (Darwin): Leading from the front as ever, the captain made 52 runs opening the batting off 33 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes.

Kane Halfpenny (Darwin): Putting together a match defining knock, the middle order bat scored 43* from 27 balls, making three fours and a single maximum.

One-Day (Round 3)

NIGHTCLIFF TIGERS 9/218 def. 151 PALMERSTON POWER

Will Blair (Nightcliff): The middle order bat fell just short of half a ton, making 47 runs off 72 balls with three fours and two maximums, plus a catch for good measure.

Moe Spencer (Nightcliff): The Tiger recorded 62 runs from 87 deliveries at number six, hitting one boundary and a six.

Nicholas Fleming (Nightcliff): The pick of the bowlers, Fleming took figures of 3/15 from his six overs.

WARATAH WARRIORS 7/294 def. 207 DARWIN EAGLES

Aryan Jain (Waratah): The opener set the tone for the Warriors, making 76 runs from 81 balls, scoring four boundaries.

Jaga Koduru (Waratah): Returning to the team having missed the opening rounds, Koduru got straight back into the action scoring 67 runs off 89 balls at first drop. The Victorian hit two fours and two sixes along the way.

Sam Geyer (Waratah): Practically going at one a ball the middle order bat hit 46 runs off 47 deliveries with one four and three maximums.

Jacob Dickman (Darwin): Leading from the front once again, the captain made 66 runs from 88 deliveries, whacking four fours and four sixes.

Hugo Matthias (Waratah): Part of a Waratah bowling attack that all performed, Matthias recorded figures of 3/29 off his six overs, as well as a catch.

SOUTHERN DISTRICTS CROCS 9/235 def. 7/228 PINT

Dylan Mullen (Districts): Batting at number seven, Mullen steadied the ship after his top order failed to make big figures. Mullen hit 43 runs off 74 deliveries. The Croc chipped in on the field as well taking 1/43 and two catches.

Mitch Doolan (PINT): High scoring in the match, Doolan made an unbeaten 83* runs off 129 deliveries, hitting six fours at first drop. Doolan’s bowling wasn’t too shabby either, recording figures of 1/34 off his 10 overs in which he bowled one maiden.

Chander Ravi (PINT): The second PINT player who had a great inning, Ravi scored 61 runs off 75 balls hitting four fours and two sixes at number five. Ravi also took a catch in the first.

Christopher McEvoy (Districts): McEvoy held down an end superbly, making it difficult for PINT to get any rhythm, taking 2/20 off 10 overs, bowling four maidens to go at 2.

T20 (Round 2)

(DLS) PALMERSTON POWER 9/109 def. 5/85 (17) NIGHTCLIFF TIGERS

Harshtik Bimbral (Palmerston): Batting at number six, Bimbral was the star in an otherwise poor Palmerston batting performance, scoring 44* runs off 48 deliveries, hitting just the two fours.

Andrew Richards (Nightcliff): The spinner took 3/18 off his four overs, going at a steady 4.50.

Moe Spencer (Palmerston): Power’s opener, Spencer hit an unbeaten 42* runs from 43 deliveries with just two boundaries.

SOUTHERN DISTRICTS CROCS 7/152 (19.5) def. 5/151 TRACY VILLAGE

Connor Carroll (Tracy): Carroll was at it once again atop the order, smashing 78 runs off 52 balls, with seven fours and three sixes for a 150 strike rate.

Ryan Hammel (Districts): The Crocs’ top scorer, Hammel saved the day at number four, scoring 64 runs from 44 balls. He hit six boundaries and one six.

Tahir Abbas (Tracy): The Villager was potent and economical, recording 3/20 off his four overs.

WARATAH WARRIORS 8/104 def. 7/102 DARWIN EAGLES

Justin Galeotti (Darwin): The only player from either side to score more than 21 runs, the Eagle hit 33 runs off 39 deliveries at number four.

One-Day (Round 2)

(ABANDONED) TRACY VILLAGE 4/167 (31.2) vs. WARATAH WARRIORS

Connor Carroll (Tracy): The former Tiger narrowly avoided massive heartache, notching his first major milestone in new colours, hitting 100 runs off 89 deliveries atop the order. Carroll smacked five boundaries and five sixes along the way.

(ABANDONED) NIGHTCLIFF TIGERS 8/221 (49.1) vs. 1/36 (10.1) SOUTHERN DISTRICTS CROCS

Jordan Roads (Nightcliff): The West Australian had his best inning this season with the bat at the weekend, hitting a steady 64 runs from 56 deliveries. He made eight boundaries and hit one six for a strike rate of 114.28.

Fergus McKenna (Nightcliff): The Tigers’ other opener also had a solid time at the crease, scoring 58 runs from 78 deliveries, with four fours.

Zeph Netherway (Districts): Another West Australian, this time playing for the Crocs, Netherway, while expensive, was Districts’ pick of the bowlers, taking 3/47 off his 9.1 overs, plus a catch.

(DLS) DARWIN EAGLES 4/276 def. 214 (39.1) PINT

Jacob Dickman (Darwin): Continuing his mantle as the form batter of the competition, the Eagles’ number one and captain came out swinging again at the weekend. Dickman made a match defining 86 runs off 83 deliveries, hitting eight boundaries and three sixes.

Kane Halfpenny (Darwin): With all the top five Eagles making 35 runs or above, Halfpenny’s 48* runs off 66 balls impressed for his overarching role in the inning. He also took a wicket for 26 runs off his three overs with the ball.

Connor Poulton (PINT): The Essendon C.C. player did his best to drag his men to a competitive total in a loss, making a tough fought 79 runs off 84 deliveries, whacking six fours and two maximums. He also took a catch behind the stumps.

Lenny Wilton (Darwin): Terrorising PINT’s line-up, the Eagle took 4/35 off his nine over stint, going at 3.88.

One-Day (Round 1)

NIGHTCLIFF TIGERS 8/123 def. 122 DARWIN EAGLES

Bailey Garnham (Darwin): Batting at number five, Garnham provided some counter for the Eagles hitting 33 runs off as many balls in a tough inning, hitting two fours and one maximum.

Andrew Richards (Nightcliff): The Nightcliff captain was handy with the ball, snagging figures of 3/23 from five overs, plus a catch.

Charlie Smith (Nightcliff): The spinner worked well with his skipper, also taking 3/23 off his seven overs.

Max Menzies (Darwin): After making a handy 12 runs with the bat at number 10, Menzies did his best work in the field, recording 1/14 from four overs as well as taking four catches.

PALMERSTON POWER 6/122 def. 5/121 SOUTHERN DISTRICTS CROCS

Ryan Hammel (Districts): Into the fold at 3/36, Hammel was the only Croc to make above 20 runs. The number four scored 43* or 35 .5 per cent of his sides total off 44 deliveries, hitting two boundaries along the way.

Andrew Bourne (Palmerston): The pick of Power’s bowlers, Bourne took 3/22 off his four overs at 5.50.

Jerome Robinson (Palmerston): Like Districts, Palmerston’s batters also struggled for big scores, however it was Robinson atop the order who impressed with 34 runs from 16 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes.

TRACY VILLAGE 3/198 def. 6/197 PINT

Vihanga Fernando (PINT)

The opener fell shy of saluting the crowd, making 43 runs off 41 balls in which he whacked four fours and one six.

Connor Poulton (PINT)

The captain did his best to put his men in a good position, making a hard fought 63* off 64 deliveries with four boundaries.

Muhammad Irfan (Tracy)

The Villager’s opening bowler was expensive but effective in his first outing of the new season, with figures of 3/40 off his eight overs at 5.

Jake Gerrans (Tracy)

The opener was on song at DXC, recording 62 runs off 59 balls, smacking eight fours and one six.

Scott Palombo (Tracy)

Batting at first drop, Palombo looked like the tons was on the cards, however he retired not out at 68 runs from 58 balls, whacking eight boundaries and two sixes to get there.

T20 (Round 1)

TRACY VILLAGE 4/186 def. 6/143 DARWIN EAGLES

Connor Carroll (Tracy): Opening the batting, the former Nightcliff player was massive in his new colours. Carroll whacked 86 runs from 50 balls, with 10 fours and four sixes. He also took 1/31 off his four overs.

Ryan Walker (Tracy): It didn’t take long for the spinner to hit his straps, taking four scalps for 25 runs in his four over stint.

Sam Elder (Tracy): The local fell just shy of the 50 mark, scoring 44 runs off 34 deliveries, with two fours and a maximum at number three.

Jacob Dickman (Darwin): Darwin’s shining light in the loss, the new captain channelled his inner Brisbane Heat era Josh Brown atop the order. Dickman hit 57 runs from 32 balls, hitting four boundaries and four sixes along the way.

Special Mention – Ralph Stephens (Darwin): The debutant had a day to both remember and forget. Fresh off a shoulder injury in the off-season the teenager went into bat for the Eagles at number seven. Stephens’ inning was over before it even begun, run-out for a platinum duck having not faced a single delivery. The youngster took it in his stride say the following after the match. “That’s the first and hopefully will be the last time that ever happens. It’s not great but that’s cricket and you’ve just got to put these sort of things behind you.”

PALMERSTON POWER 7/128 def. 6/125 SOUTHERN DISTRICTS CROCS

Hamish Martin (Palmerston): The red-ball whiz proved he’s no slouch with the white ball at the weekend. Power’s captain brought himself into the action late in the piece. Martin ended with figures of 3/12 off three, one of which a terrific caught and bowled.

Sean Thompson (Districts): The West Australian scored 36 runs off 27 balls at first drop, top scoring for his side in his first match as a Croc.

PINT 90 def. 88 WARATAH WARRIORS

Mariyatharsha Shanthakumar (PINT): The captain was outstanding in the field taking three run-outs as well as a catch.

Udara Weerasinghe (Waratah): Tah’s captain coach led from the front with his bowling. A major factor in PINT’s low tally, Weerasinghe took 2/9 off 3.1 overs. He also recorded a catch and had two run outs.

Connor Poulton (PINT): At number four Poulton made a crucial 25 runs off 27 balls. He was also handy behind the stumps taking a catch, a run out and a run out assist.

Rhonan Appleby (Waratah): Warrior’s number one looked as if he was batting on a different surface to the rest of the players hitting 40 runs off 58 balls.
