MUSICIAN Charlotte Lacey was excited to showcase what she'd been working on all year at the City of Toowoomba Eisteddfod today.
Students tuned their instruments and rehearsed their pieces as the second half of the eisteddfod got under way at the Empire Theatre.
Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School student Charlotte said she was excited to perform in the jazz and popular solo section.
"I will be performing the Hungarian Stomp by Pamela Wedgwood," Charlotte said.
"It will be good to showcase what I have been working on all year."
The students competed in various solo and duet stringed instrument categories.
Toowoomba strings tutor and conductor Vicki Bravery said the day had been a fabulous start to the eisteddfod.
"All of the students who have performed have stepped up today," Mrs Bravery said.
"The adjudicators have been impressed with the talent the students have displayed."
Toowoomba Grammar School student Angus Mohr said he entered in the eisteddfod to have some fun.
"I look forward to playing with this excellent group of musicians and to learn from them as we compete," Angus said.
The eisteddfod will continue until Sunday, August 5.
