The family of a 44-year-old Toowoomba man who died as a result of a freak motorcycle crash has paid tribute to their loved one.

Father-of-five Alan Manteit tragically died when his motorcycle collided with a small SUV on Long St on January 22.

Alan, one of five sibings, will forever be remembered by his younger sister Tasha James as a fearless larrikin.

Ms James said her brother had a love for fast motorcycles and was known to be at his happiest while out riding.

Ms James said their family is still coming to terms with the sudden loss, which has taken a heavy toll on her mother Patricia.

“We’re all just still coming to terms with it, it was a freak accident and one of those things that just happen,” she said.

Ms James said the birth of Alan’s first child Harley, who’s now in his early 20s, sparked a major change in her big brother, who became overjoyed to meet his then newborn son.

“That was his proudest moment (becoming a dad),” she said.

“He was the bravest person I know and he was so fearless towards life. He’s dearly missed.

“He was one of those people who if he had his mind set on something he’d just get it done.”

Ms James said she has no animosity towards the driver of the other vehicle, whom she hopes to get in contact with.

“It was a freak accident and it wasn’t their fault and I just hope they’re doing OK because seeing that would’ve been pretty scary for them,” she said.
