Toowoomba Together is preparing for its annual Community Recognition Evening where it will honour businesses, community groups and individuals working to reduce family violence and support survivors.
The award night will be held at the Empire Theatres’ Church Theatre on July 19 and there is still time to nominate someone you know who is doing good work.
There are five award categories as well as the Paul Myatt Award which goes to an overall winner.
Organiser Tony Rehn said it was important to recognise the efforts of so many people who work in the domestic and family violence space.
“They awards have been going since 2009 and are free for the public to attend,” he said.
“Family violence against is very topical at the moment and we want to acknowledge people who are doing good stuff, be they a business, a community group, an individual or a sporting club.
Toowoomba Together is a non-for-profit community group that drives social change around domestic and gender-based violence.
It runs programs in schools to educate young men and women about healthy relationships, provides resource support to allied organisations and works alongside police and counselling services.
The awards start at 6pm, entry is free but donations are encouraged.
