MEMBER for Toowoomba North Trevor Watts MP congratulated Newtown State School, Toowoomba North State School and Downlands College on their selection as winners in The Chronicle Garden Competition City School Class Division.
"I am extremely proud of the effort that each school puts towards making their school precinct an attractive and vibrant hub where children learn, teachers teach and communities gather," Mr Watts said.
According to Toowoomba North State School Principal Mrs Kaarin Littleton, "Toowoomba North State School has a long history of achievements in Toowoomba's garden competition and after several years away from participation it is thanks to our new groundsman, Parents and Citizen's Association, teachers and families that our grounds are producing beautiful displays again."
"The gardens at North are truly a community effort with all members included in the planting, weeding and care under the watchful eye of Mr Dryden, our groundsman.
"This year the school arranged an artistic flower display made from recycled materials and attached to the fence. This drew many admirers from the many people passing by on their way to and from the inner city."
