Harristown mother Jessica Edwards is starting a second journey of fundraising, after being invited to star in the ‘Legends’ season of Adventure All Stars, a reality TV show that aims to make a difference.

In February 2024 Ms Edwards raised a whopping $19,000 for Small Steps for Hannah, a foundation set up by the Clarke family.

Her success allowed Ms Edwards to qualify for a spot on Adventure All Stars and it wasn’t long before she got a call from the producers that she was going on a reality TV adventure.

Apart from knowing it was a domestic flight within a month’s time frame, Ms Edwards wasn’t even given a list on what to pack.

“It was so out of control, you have no idea what you are going to do,” she said.

The trip turned out to be beyond something she could have imagined, full of adventure, fun and travel as the TV show follows the group of 12 fundraisers.

But it was also sombre as Ms Edwards grew up best friends with Hannah’s brother and found herself in the position of supporting her family as they had to publicly grieve.

She described the trip as a “healing journey” a chance for her to grieve, with the first day of the trip landing on the anniversary of Hannah’s death, February 19.

“I was a wreck, but it was also a fun adventurous day with memories of gratitude,” Ms Edwards said.

As they were climbing the Adelaide Oval for one of the activities, the See the Signs campaign around coercive control rolled through the big screens, she said.

While it was heartbreaking, it was also a celebration for the advocacy which started a public discussion around recognising coercive control, she said.

Ms Edwards’ episode is scheduled to screen on Channel 7 sometime between June and July, but she is going back for round two in a special “Legends” version of the show.

This time she is raising funds for Strike Out Suicide and their support for Headspace, which provides mental health services to 12-25 year olds and has more than 100 centres throughout Australia.

The show will be filmed sometime in November 2024 and before then she’s aiming to raise at least $10,000 for the charity.
