Toowoomba’s rising Mixed Martial Arts fighter Tom “Big Train” Nolan is to make his Los Vegas debut later this year.

The 23-year-old fighter is expected to fight under the Dana White Contenders Series in Las Vegas which is a fight in order for Nolan to obtain a UFC contract, his dream since he entered the sport four years ago.

Nolan only took up the sport as a way to keep fit in the off-season when he was a teenage rugby league prospect in Toowoomba.

However, he soon took to the competitiveness of MMA fighting and did not return to rugby league.

His record in MMA stands at five wins with no losses and among those opponents were the very experienced Trevor Sinclair who had previously held the lightweight title, and equally experienced Adam Cook who he finished off with a second round technical knockout at Southport Sharks in December 2022.

The fight against Sinclair was on the undercard of Eternal MMA 63 and was live streamed around the world and was viewed by more than one million people.

Nolan, who fights out of Team Compton Training Centre X PFS, is expected to head to Las Vegas for his first overseas bout later this year.
