Racing legend Mick Doohan conquered the world on a motorbike, and now he’s lending his fame to help conquer cancer.
The highly-decorated former 500cc motorcycle champion was in Toowoomba on Friday as part of a special luncheon to raise funds for the Tour de Cure campaign, which supports research into curing cancer.
Along for the ride was TV sports journalist Mark Beretta, with the pair sitting down to discuss Doohan’s life and career.
The luncheon at Fitzy’s Toowoomba off Church St was a sold-out affair, with guests treated to premium beers, raffles and auctions, live entertainment, wines as well as delicious canapes and main courses.
The Tour de Cure’s signature event starts on March 26 and covers more than 950km, heading to Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, Muswellbrook, Tamworth, Armidale, Glen Innes, Grafton and Coffs Harbour.
