Lockyer Lives explores the concept that the Lockyer Valley is “alive”, in new Gatton exhibition

The exhibition explores the concept that the Lockyer lives – that it is alive with food production and native flora and fauna, “set in our landscape on our piece of earth”.

An exhibition reflecting on the pioneering days of the Lockyer Valley, and artist Christine Brassington’s own experiences growing up on the family farm in the Lockyer, is on display at the Lockyer Valley Regional Art Gallery until May 30.

The exhibition explores the concept that the Lockyer lives – that it is alive with food production and native flora and fauna, “set in our landscape on our piece of earth”.

Mrs Brassington has used a wide variety of media, from recycled objects such as farm junk, baling twine, leftover building materials and a car bonnet, to clay, watercolours, acrylics and graphite, covering diverse subject matter ranging from landscape, wildlife, farm animals, still life, and portraiture.

The gallery is located at the cultural centre on Lake Apex Drive in Gatton.
