REDKITE has received a generous boost from Toowoomba businesses that will go to support four families in need.

Grand Central Shopping Centre, Probuild and the city's The Coffee Club stores joined forces to raise more than $10,000 for the national charity which supports young people and children with cancer.

The Coffee Club donated $1 from every hot beverage sold over a week raising more than $5,000, with Grand Central and Probuild together matching their donation.

Redkite's National Community Fundraising coordinator Tina Dunstan said $2,500 could support one family for an entire year.

"The way Redkite week is run in Toowoomba is amazing, getting everyone involved, spreading awareness as well as increasing funds to support our essential services," she said.

"It's a great initiative and hopefully it goes on for many years to come."

The two Coffee Club stores in Toowoomba have been raising money for Redkite since 2008, with the total money raised about $20,000.
